Guess who's back.... Back again... (Sorry, showing my old age with Eminem)

Image result for march

I can honestly say that looking at the calendar today, I can not believe that it is already March.  Sometimes, (yea, maybe the older I get but hush) it seems like I blink, literally, and the year is half over already!  I used to blame it on the birthday mash at the beginning of the year, I mean, we have Dad's birthday in January, our oldest in February, my Uncle, my Brother and my Grandma in March, my Youngest in April, my Hubby in May - yikes... then it is calm for a bit.

But, seriously, I can not get over that it is already March.

Life is good.

I know that you all could see the struggle #itwasrealyall that I have been dealing with for the past year or so, trying to find my way in this life, trying to find my purpose.  I learned a great deal through the journey, which is amazing because honestly, it has made me that much more grateful #truestory. I honestly said, like to myself, but still...God, it is in you hands.

Then I stopped.

  • I stopped trying to find a job
  • I stopped looking
  • I just stopped and I trusted

It's OK if you think so, because at the time, I thought so myself, but what else could I do.  I knew that my purpose was more.  I knew that whatever I was suppose to be doing, I just was not.  And please, do not get me wrong, I was subbing, on a very part time basis, which was incredible.  I will never discredit that, because I had the time of my life, honestly.

  • But, I wanted more.
  • And I was not getting that part.
  • And truth be told, going back to school to finish for my teaching cert was just not an option.

So I threw my hands up to the heavens and declared trust.

Then...something fricken amazing happened.  I kid you not, here.

I received a call, a call that I won't get into detail about, but one that put me back in a place that I had been once before.  A dream foreshadowed this call, in which my Grandpa was hinting towards this career move. I was ready (or so I thought) to go back into that life.  A life that works holidays, weekends, odd shifts and the whole mess. A life that did not work out to nice before, but one that I enjoyed the actual work and the placement was a place that I longed to be a part of.

OK, cool.

But, then, I got another call...about a place that is literally 3 minutes from my house. A place that when I looked at the places I wanted to work, this would rank high.  A place that was offering part time hours with some adjustment with my kids placement, but still required weekends, holidays and odd hours.

Ugh.

If you don't know me, personally, here goes... I suck (like big time) at decisions.  I mean it is not just with life decisions either... My Hubby asks, "Where do you want to eat?" I will literally, every time say "I don't care" because I can not lock down one solid option.

Annoying, right!

Then... I get another call.  A position that I applied to a long while ago.  A position that when I read it, I could have sworn they wrote it for ME.  I position that I really did not feel confident that I would get picked for. That is saying something, right.

So, I got to said interview.  I nailed it.  I mean, honestly, it was not hard because the chemistry with everyone was spot on. The position at hand was something that I knew what right in my zone and the office felt like home.

OK, now we are cooking with Crisco, right. But, I have two (2) other offers on the table. #decisionsdecisions

I am not guaranteed a job, even with the one I really want at this point. I have hoops to travel through.  I go for a physical for one of the other two positions, get home and then the position that I just interviewed for calls and wants to set up a second interview. Awesome, right.  Only, it is after I am suppose to start the 2nd position. Ut Oh.

Image result for roll the dice clip art
I rolled the dice, literally.  (or asked the Magic 8 Ball) I regretfully declined position number one, whom I had heard nothing from in regards to a start date or formal offer, just verbal at this point.  I regretfully declined position number two.  And the biggest thing is that I did not think, really, about declining, where as I would have felt bad at any other time.  I felt that I was trusting in God. I was following his plan. That is the key.

Needless to say, I nailed my Dream Job, literally.  I was offered the position on the spot, started right away and today is my one-month anniversary.  The best part is, no weekends, no holidays, I get to go home for my hour lunch EVERYDAY, it's super close to home and I wear jeans on Fridays! Seriously, I could not be happier.  And the people are amazing. It's unbelievable that I found my purpose and what God had put within my path that I just needed to trust and believe in.

So, for me, life is good.  My kids, husband and family are all healthy.  Things are taking shape and I have a few goals to knock off the list by next year, that I think we will accomplish.  I am excited for this new journey that I am on and that is something sweet.

Trick or Treat...Smell my Feet...Give me something GOOD to EAT!!!

It was a dark and stormy night... well dark, cold and rainy, for sure!  It was TRICK OR TREATING with my little ladies!

We had a BLAST, despite the cold and rain.

We even got: "Mom & Dad, this is the BEST NIGHT EVER" with a "YEAH" to follow from the peanut gallery, also known as Kit Kat!

It was a treat to watch my little's having a good time and learning the ropes of manners.

We got home, inspected our candy, whipped up some HOT COCOA (of course) and handed out one specially picked piece of good candy to each!

Many more to follow!!!

Sometimes it's the simple things...

November 10, 2013

This morning started out different.  One of those mornings that you can't quite put your finger on, but something...something is very different.

Ms Two on the couch
I am lucky.  I wake up to two little beauties.  Two brilliant, beautiful daughters that the lord was kind enough to bless me... little old me...with.   Today, they awoke, hair all a mess, cheeks rosy from the warmth of their beds... and all they wanted to do was .... play!  I mean, isn't that what we all want to do?  When we think about life, I think we all lack P L A Y .... #truestory

What is a Mom to do.... Well we got ready for our adventurous day ahead, brushed our hair (and teeth) got dressed and made waffles (with extra chocolate chips, of course!) for breakfast.

We made our way, eventually, to the living room... you know that one that currently has two (2) couches, even though it has been an official MONTH since we moved into Gray Gables (but who's counting) where we found our spots (respectively) and turned on the tube to Mickey Mouse to watch his club house antics.  My four (4) year old quickly disappeared into the playroom where she started serving her little sis and I a hearty breakfast pizza, with bananas, um, YUM?

All this while my always eager to play two year old decided to take it easy.  She snuggled under a warm blankie on one of the couches next to her Mama just to zone out to her Mick-ety Mouse.

This, my friends, is my life and all I have to say is...

Life is good!!

The Work Online Revolution and Why it Works For Women

Goals, Lifestyle, Motherhood

by: Kel Amstutz

Technology

has changed our lives dramatically when it comes or day-to-day activities

This is a fact.

We really can't go one day without checking our emails or social media, for that matter!

I posted a post a while back showing a little cabin in the middle of now-where with the meme, could you survive 30 days here with plenty of food, firewood, water, etc. but without technology, i.e. no T.V., cell service, social media outlets, Wi-Fi, etc.

Well, could you?

We seem to always be within arms reach of our smart phone or iPad's/Tablets/Computers.

Why is that?

Well, the basic answer to this question is simply because it is easier to research using the internet, I mean, does anyone remember card catalogs at the library?

Probably not because they are tucked into a dark, dusty corner, basically extinct!

We shop, browse, learn, read and even work online using our technology that is within our reach, right!

So, why does working online work for women like you and me?

Let's think about a traditional job, you commute, like, in traffic!

You are usually on a fixed work schedule and that includes a salary of sorts working for an employer.

This is the definition of a traditional job, within a brick and mortar building.

Well, working from home, online, means that you park the commute, because you typically have a home office, you don't necessarily have fixed hours and you usually control your income.  You can set you income target and work accordingly. At the end of the day, you will be paid what you expect and deserve.  The best part of working from home is that you gauge how your days goes. I find that my energy is different throughout the day and this comes in handy when working from home. I find my happy place when I get to sit down when I am most productive and focus on my work at home work when this is at the highest peak.  It feels like I am not even working because I love what I do, from home!

Online jobs can also offer you control over the type of tasks that you want to work on.

Based on your mood or temperament, you can choose your field and work on those kinds of tasks.

This varies from Entrepreneur to Virtual Assistant to Freelance Designer.

The more productive that you find yourself, the more income you can earn.

Let's break down the Rules for working online or from Home:

OK, with all good things comes some rules, right.

Don't worry though, they are easy to follow and will help you on your work at home goals.

1. Get ready for work. This is important. I follow the same morning routine as when I was going into the office everyday. Set boundaries because this will allow you to be as productive as you can be.

2. Dress up already! Being in a nice shirt or blouse and slacks or jeans reinforces my self-image and boosts my confidence even when I am working from home.

3. Be online on time. I am ready for work everyday at 10:00 a.m. I even say that I am going to work, even if I am at home. This is a boundary that I have set and instill. Also, if you have children, hire child care, if you need it! I am lucky this year because my kids are both in school but last year, I had my parents take my kiddo during work hours, while my other one attended school. Again, this is a boundary!

4. Always go home at the end of the day. When you are at work, be at work. But, when you go home or break for lunch even, really be home. Learn to separate the two, even though both are at home. I put up my computer for the night when I sign off and do homework with my kids, play, make dinner, relax and most recently, divulge in Harry Potter movies on Friday evenings with my snuggle bugs. This is a huge boundary that has taken me some time to master!

You need to define your own boundary list, but remember your why

Why else does working from home work for us women?

Mine is because it allows me to be flexible, focus on my family and continue my creative processes while earning an income!

Do you work from home? Tell me about your career or business in the comments!!!

Nope! I can't wait to be done with school in two weeks and then off to my dream job! Haters approval not needed! I have found something I love to do! It makes me happy to see I'm such an inspiration to all my haters :):
