Let's get fit - JUNE challenge DAY 1

Who doesn't want to look great in their Swimsuit this summer?

Ugh, it is almost that dreadful bathing suit season... I am not ready at all.  I keep saying to myself, I wish I had worked out more, tanned to "hide" my tummy and thighs, not ate that burger that was oh, so, delicious.

So, what do I do? I stop eating.  I do F A D diets.  I workout like a crazy person for a few days then get tired of it.  Then I go out in my suit feeling completely uncomfortable.

Well, no more!  My life is on a changed path and I am not looking back.  I am going to do this.  I am going to get fit, flatten up my fat and feel good!

It all starts TODAY! Who is with me?

Get ready, it is MEAN ABS June here and I would like everyone to join me on this awesome transformation.  I will be using Shakeology in my journey.  If you are interested in Shakeology, visit my website at: www.beachbodycoach.com/KELAMSTUTZ

Starting tomorrow, June 1st, I am launching my first Group to start a Mean Abs, June challenge, for free.  All you have to do is join my facebook group and document your results, share your food ideas and report on your workouts and progress.  It is really that easy!  I will be doing my best to encourage all and keep everyone moving to losing those lbs. and inches!!  I will also be participating in the challenge and documenting my results.  I would also like to encourage everyone to looking into Beachbody and Shakeology.  I will be drinking the Shakeology during my June challenge and hopefully will help others to see the benefits of Shakeology in your own diet.
Speaking of Shakeolo....what?

What is Shakeology?  I know it is usually the first question I get.  Then I see the faces and then the animosity about a Protein drink/Meal Replacement.  I can hear your grumbles from here!  All I can say is, don't knock it until you try it! I was one of YOU, I was against the Shakeology, wanted nothing to do with the "Drink" part of getting Fit.  My Coach had me try it and guess what, I have been hooked ever since!  I even tried a few other brands when I had to leave BeachBody last year (personal reasons - 1 income with 2 houses is not an easy feat!) and all I can say is YUCK!  It was NOT Shakeology and guess what, I will never drink anything BUT Shakeology.  That is saying something because I am one Picky Princess!

So, enough about me, let's talk about Shakeology. Here are the facts:

I love Shakeology!!! http://www.beachbodycoach.com/esuite/home/LSordus https://www.facebook.com/laurenordusfitness

What's in Shakeology?

Protein and Essential Amino Acids to help build muscle and reduce food cravings*
  • Help build and repair muscles
  • Reduce hunger and food cravings
  • Promote healthy skin, hair, and nails
  • Chocolate and Greenberry Shakeology include whey protein isolate, an easily absorbable source of high-quality protein that's ideal for building and maintaining lean muscle mass. Tropical Strawberry and Vegan Chocolate include high-quality plant proteins from brown rice, pea and other sources. Essential amino acids, found in these proteins, help the body repair muscle tissue and heal wounds; and reduce hunger pangs. The protein in all Shakeology products provides a highly bioavailable source of essential amino acids.

Prebiotics, Probiotics and Digestive Enzymes, which aid in improving digestion, regularity, and nutrient absorption*
  • Aids digestion
  • Support a healthy intestinal tract
  • Increase absorption of nutrients
  • Shakeology contains many ingredients that are beneficial to the digestive system.
  • Prebiotics, natural components of certain plants, help support the "friendly" bacteria in your digestive tract.
  • Probiotics are strains of live good bacteria that help with the digestive process. They assist the body in absorbing nutrients and minerals, bring an overall balance to the digestive tract, and help support the immune system.
  • Digestive enzymes, from sources such as pineapples and papayas, help your body break down food into its individual components, making the nutrients easier to absorb.

Adaptogens
  • Help promote a strong immune system
  • Help increase energy
  • Help protect the body from stress
  • Help balance endocrine hormones and the immune system
  • Adaptogens are special herbs that grow in harsh climates and conditions, at high elevations, atop mountains where the soil is rocky and oxygen in the air is thin. Because these plants have to adapt to harsh conditions, they have highly concentrated nutrients that can help your body cope with stress, provide energy, and maintain a strong immune system. Shakeology has a total of 9 adaptogens. Which is more than any other shake out there.

Antioxidants and phytonutrients (plant-sourced ingredients) may help maintain health*
  • Help neutralize harmful free radicals
  • Help decrease inflammation
  • Help maintain the immune system
  • Potentially decrease the risk of degenerative diseases
  • Many of Shakeology's fruit and vegetable sources have been chosen for their high concentration of healthy natural substances known as phytonutrients, including flavonoids, polyphenols, anthocyanins, and catechins. These substances have antioxidant properties, meaning they help neutralize molecules known as free radicals, which damage cells and may contribute to the aging process. In laboratory tests, phytonutrients have shown promise in helping prevent a wide variety of degenerative conditions.

23 Vitamins and Minerals your body needs to function for optimal health*
  • Get a wide range of essential nutrients
  • Get your necessary vitamins every day
  • Make up for dietary deficiencies
  • Most of us don't get the complete range of essential vitamins and minerals in our daily diets. Some important vitamins, such as vitamin C and the B vitamins, are water-soluble, meaning they're flushed out of your body after a short time and need to be replenished regularly. Others, like vitamin E, can be difficult to get enough of in food. Shakeology Chocolate and Greenberry provide all these nutrients in an easy-to-take form, so you never have to worry. (Tropical Strawberry and Vegan Chocolate do not have the vitamin and mineral ingredients added.)

Is Shakeology "certified" as a meal replacement?

Shakeology is a dietary supplement that when prepared with certain liquids, healthy ingredients, and/or fruit can contain enough calories to replace a meal. As with all dietary supplements, Shakeology is designed to supplement your healthy diet and not be the only source of nutrition throughout the day. Shakeology is not recommended to replace more than two meals per day.

Hot Topic!!! Your kids and Toy Guns- what is your stance?

Toy Guns for your kids?

1950’s toy guns

So, here we are, my little family of four, standing at Bass Pro, checking out the "kids" section.

My little ladies see these popper guns, you know the ones, they have a cork that "POPs" when you pull the trigger...its kind of large and of course P I N K and my girls want one!

Hubby of course if all for it.. I am kind of apprehensive.  I mean, there is this thing in society of "doing the right thing" in regards to Parenting.

What would you do?

Toy guns are just that.  TOYS!  My Husband and I are both CCW certified and I even own my own firearm.  I was trained to use it, know the safety measures to take to make sure my family is safe, when not in use and also believe that in a situation where my family is in danger, I will shoot!  So, why was I apprehensive.  Wouldn't I, as a Parent, want my children to feel safe around firearms, ensuring that they know how to use them, in an emergency life or death situation?  Oey Vey... On some level YES, but it is so fuzzy.  With all the shootings in America over the years, and much more recently is that enough?  I mean, really think about it.  How many of these mass shootings have involved kids/teens who were educated on firearms?  Well, we don't really know, do we.  I would love to think that NONE of them have been properly trained to know when/how to use a firearm- apparently they missed the WHEN question, right!  A firearm is a killing machine.  Point blank, that is my stance!  Like I said, I have my firearm as a means of protection.  I do carry, let that be clear. Do my children know, nope.  They are five and three people!  So, that being said, and as a person, me being a Pro Firearms individual in this society, what is the big deal with a Toy Gun?

That day, we did not buy Popper Guns.  I just feel that my children are too young and we will cross that road when they are a bit older and can understand!  It is kind of crazy though because we do play pirates and have Nerf swords that are at play in my household.  I just do not want to set that precedent that guns pointed at people to POP are OK.  Call me a hypocrite if you will, but that is just my personal feelings.  I think that my kiddos need to understand that you do not ever, under any circumstance point a gun at someone unless you are fearing for your life or in absolute danger.  Toy gun or real gun.  Doesn't start with play though? I mean, think about it, as a child you are acting out your imagination. So, you will most likely take these situations with you into Adulthood.

Back to those swords that we play pirate with, I have been very careful to teach my girls that although we have sword fights, the importance of TOY swords vs. a sharp blade that can hurt, potentially kill someone. And I love the funny looks that I get when I say Kill.  My five year old always, always says, "Kill someone Dead, Mom."  Innocence.  A sword is not a gun.  There is control that a person has over a sword that they lack with an automatic gun, right.

What are your views?  How do/did/will you handle this in your household?

I will tell you that my Hubby thinks that I am absolutely ridiculous and even wanted to purchase a set of smaller guns with the powder pops- um, absolutely NO!  Luckily, these girls were more impressed with the stuffed animals that make noise, oh and Cotton Candy!  We walked out without Guns that trip. The next one, I can't be so sure.

Here are some stories and views from others in regards to Guns at Play:

Parents Magazine:
"Parents" magazine that found that 71% of parents think it's okay for kids to play with toy guns. As a kid, I played with cap guns. I played with water guns.
And I this I I'm okay with my kid playing with water guns. I agree with you. My kids have water guns.
No problems? Not a big deal. I don't like the realistic ak-47s too much.
But a water gun. I think everybody's okay. I never let my kids have any type of toy guns.
No toys that represent a killing machine. I understand the feeling. But realistically -- A water gun is not a killing machine.
It's all about parental involvement and guidance. We all had water guns. And most of us did not grow up to be violent criminals.

Fox News:
TOY GUNS: 'Zero tolerance' toward schoolkids could backfire
(FOX NEWS) -
Little boys around the nation keep getting in trouble for guns – whether they're made of plastic, formed by fingers or even fashioned from Pop-Tarts – but some experts say having "zero tolerance" for games children have played for centuries is turning the adults into bullies and backfiring on kids.
Elementary educators trying to discourage children from settling pretend beefs with pretend guns is nothing new. But in the aftermath of the Connecticut school shooting, and with the grownups increasingly polarized over the Second Amendment, rules for recess, on the bus and in the classroom have become stricter than ever.
Some say too strict.
"These zero-tolerance policies are psychotic, in the strict sense of the word: psychotic means ‘out of touch with reality,'" Dr. Leonard Sax, a Pennsylvania psychologist and family physician, and author of "Boys Adrift," told FoxNews.com.
In recent months, there have been several examples of children being disciplined for what was once seen as innocent role play.
A group of students was suspended this month from a Washington state elementary school for using Nerf dart guns as part of a math lesson, despite having permission from their teacher.
In March, second-grader Josh Welch was suspended from a Maryland elementary school after unknowingly biting a Pop-Tart into the shape of a gun.
"I just kept on biting it and biting it and tore off the top of it, and it kind of looked like a gun," Welch told a local Fox affiliate.
Last month, also in Maryland, a 5-year-old boy who brought an orange-tipped cap gun onto his Calvert County school bus was suspended for 10 days, according to his family and a lawyer. The child was grilled for more than two hours by a school principal and wet himself, according to his family.
Girls have been swept up in the phenomenon as well. In January, a fifth-grade student in Philadelphia broke down in tears after being scolded in front of her classmates for accidentally bringing to school a piece of paper that was folded into the shape of a gun and given to her by her grandfather. And a 6-year-old South Carolina girl was expelled after bringing a toy gun to school.
Sax said he worries about the long-term effect, particularly on boys, of being told the games they play make them bad.
"Out-of-touch policies such as these, which criminalize behaviors which have always been common among young kids, are contributing to the growing proportion of American kids, especially boys, who regard school as a stupid waste of time and who can't wait to get out of school so that they can get back to playing their video games," Sax said.
Dr. Dan Kindlon, a child psychology professor at Harvard University who specializes in behavioral problems of children and adolescents, said school administrators have a strong basis for delivering the anti-gun message to kids.
"It would seem to be an overreaction to discipline a 6-year-old for pretending his finger is a gun barrel, but I am sure that the specter of Sandy Hook, Columbine, et cetera, haunts the dreams of many school administrators," said Kindlon.
Sax doesn't disagree, but said those school administrators should get their point across in a less heavy-handed way.
"There are more effective ways to encourage good behavior and to discourage criminal behavior, without disengaging boys from school altogether," Sax said.
A Hayward, Calif., elementary school is planning a toy gun exchange for later this month, modeled after the exchanges law enforcement authorities hold to collect real guns. Kids who hand in the play weapons will get a book and a raffle ticket for a bicycle. Strobridge Elementary Principal Charles Hill said he hopes rounding up the toy guns will stop kids from growing up to play with real ones.
"Playing with toy guns, saying ‘I'm going to shoot you,' desensitizes them, so as they get older, it's easier for them to use a real gun," Hill told the Mercury News.
While the toy gun trade-in may be a more reasonable way to address the issue than suspending or expelling children, Yih-Chau Chang, spokesman for Responsible Citizens of California, said kids can handle make-believe games, even if their educators can't.
"Having a group of children playing cops and robbers or cowboys and Indians is a normal part of growing up," Chang said.

I wanna do something like this.Shadow Box,Toy Gun and ammo..letters...cool idea
Trying to Capture the Humor!
I can see both views here and I do get it.  Maybe I am even a little enlightened by these readings, but at this time, we will not be purchasing until my girls can comprehend the educational information on firearms, real or fake!  This is my view and I totally understand that others will disagree, and I am OK with that.  Am I against firearms, absolutely not. I think that is why my views are so interesting, because I do believe in guns, I do believe in the legalization of them in our society but I also believe that education has to fall hand in hand with them.  If you are not educated on Gun Safety, you have no business carrying a firearms.

As gunowners and parents teaching our kids to respect firearms, should children today be allowed to play with toy guns?

Where have I been?

To Be better, think better and do better. All in regards to truth and kindness, in my book.

It is with a heavy heart that I have to acknowledge that I went missing! I have been under going a huge transformation to my life.  It has been a journey and guess what, I AM NOT DONE!

I woke up in late April and did not have to head off to work in the wee hours of the morning.  I got to take my time putting on my makeup, doing my hair and getting dressed.  I was able to spend time with my little ladies and most importantly, I was allowed to breathe!  Doesn't that sound stupid?  I mean, really, Kel, you did not do these things before?  My answer is No.  I was working before dawn, getting off right at lunch time and running around the city picking up kids, running mindless errands and exhausting myself with tedious tasks and chores inside the home. By the time I would look up, it was time to put my kids in the tub, rush them to bed and with the few minutes I had before I would crash in order to do this all again the next day, I was trying to get a blog post in. I am getting exhausted just reliving my life as it was.

Then, something happened. I took a work at home job and made the best decision of my life. I have been on a month long vacation and adjusting to me new life and guess what, I love it.  I am so much calmer, my pace has slowed down to a normal person, I am happy and energetic and valuing the things, however big or small, that are in my life.  I am able to see my hubby, converse with him and actually live with him!

So, I am on my work at home journey.  I was so unsure how I would feel about juggling the balance of work and home, within the home (I think this is a normal fear!) - and guess what, it is so awesome.  I have my "work" time and my "home" time.  I don't mix business with pleasure, instead I keep them separate. When I am on the clock, I work.  It is really that simple! For me, I am a different person!  I still have my kids go to my Moms, keeping their schedule consistent, but giving myself that "work" time to get all my important things completed while they are out of the house.

This has honestly transformed me!  I am embarking on another journey that is all of my own.  I was a Beach Body coach last year for a hot minute and with the house finances and the other house finances, I had to back away to save money in order for our family to afford all the expenses.  But, now that the planets have aligned and I have a lot of body issues, it is time for this girl to kick my fitness into high gear!

So, allow me to introduce myself, Coach Kel Amstutz is in the building!  I am going to be working on my journey to get fit and lose 15 lbs.  All this, while working at home and as a Mom!

Yes we do

I also need to get back into my groove.  I had made a promise to myself to write everyday, hence my reason for having a blog in the first place!

I will welcome myself back, and let's get back into our Blog groove.  I will be a little more focused on health and fitness, so bear this with me!  If you are interested in joining me on this journey, please check out my BB site:

I am starting an Ab Challenge for June.  I am also tackling the 21 Day Fix program with Shakeology. I am going to add my meals and workouts and hope that I will have people join me in this life changing journey!

Getting back to blogging...

My life has been flipped up side down the past few weeks!  I enjoyed a much needed vaca before starting my new job and thoroughly enjoyed my time with my babies!  I started my work at home job on Thursday and I have a lot to learn and some adjustments to make, but I am really loving the opportunity and being at home. I am still trying to work around my kids, which I want to adventure handle a little different once I am not so actively learning!
Over the weekend my Hubby had his big 3 5th birthday and my parents took our kids overnight so we could go to Mancy ' s Steakhouse for dinner (delicious) and we went to the Hollywood Casino. We invited a few couple friends and had a blast! It was great and Hubby won a little sumthin and I got a great cranberry and vodka buzz going so it was awesome! (Says the girl that doesn't drink! Ever)
Life threw me a curveball with my old job not paying out my vacation time, which hurt..but God blessed my family in other ways.
Life is good. It has it moments but when my Hubby says everything is going to be ok, his words fuel the truth and everything finds a way to work out.

Let's get back to blogging!

Life is good...so why do I want to sit here and have my own Pity Party?

Have you ever just felt off?

Feelings OFF

Life something terrible was about to happen, you couldn't figure out what it was but you aren't connecting with anyone and feel totally alone?

I guess this is a "loaded" question. Can you feel like something is about to happen, to the point that the bottom is going to fall from beneath you -and- you feel totally alone?  It would seem that the bottom already fell if you feel so alone...one would think?

I can't place where my feelings are stemming from. I have a lot of change going on and I hate change, so I just thought maybe that was where my insecurities were arising from? I mean, seriously, I left my job of five years, I am home full time with my girls, who are not making my life easy in any way, shape or form (I am starting to think that this is some kind of initiation and I still haven't passed yet..) and I start a work-at-home job next Thursday and I don't have my office even kind of ready yet. Plus, we are having a birthday party on Sunday (2 days away) and I have a partially finished tiled kitchen floor, no dishwasher, a sink that is now leaking because Hubby pulled the dishwasher and couldn't find a plug for the drain that goes through the dishwasher and my kitchen table is in my living room. I am obsessive compulsive to top it all off and this "project" of my Hubby's was supposed to be wrapped up by now- or so he assured me when I doubted him last Friday when he started this deal. He barely has time to put a row down a day and tomorrow he is getting up and going to a friends diaper party- so guess what- my floor is not - I repeat...NOT going to be down by the party.

Yes, I am freaking out. I am trying to stay sane and not take it out on him because he is working and I get it.. but do I?  My Dad, yes, I know...bad mojo around that one with the last H E L P that happened..but he offered to help to get things moving faster just so this wouldn't happen!  So needless to say, I am frustrated.  To top it all off, Hubby has been super short with me- like he isn't even talking to me- no hi, morning, how are you doing, I get nothing!  I have been just trying to keep our kids out of his, um... hair.. and keep to myself- which in making me internalize my feelings and now I am about to BURST!

Be honest with yourself with how you are feeling... If you feel sad - be sad. If you feel angry - be angry... Own it but dont let it control you. Give yourself time to experience your feelings but know when it is time to move on..... Remove the word 'fine' from your vocab... discover what is underneath that word... it might be a little more descriptive!
pinned image
Plus, I wanted to handle the "office" area- which is non-existent at this point by painting and was curtly told NO! Um, frustrating, because I know by his show of interest, he doesn't care if I have a place to work or not and he is in no way/shape or form going to get moving on that project!

So, tonight I am at my worst! I sent him a text last night asking if I should cancel the party and his reply was that the half tile is better than the cement board we were walking on..really..sure it is but its half done! I mean, seriously, the effin' kitchen table is going to be crooked because it is going to be half on tile and half on cement board. I am having words as we speak..to myself!! I even told him I am frustrated and feeling totally unloved. I get nothing. No response at all... This makes me even more frustrated.

So glad I am not the only one this happens too. Only pisses you off more though!

Let's be real a moment...I am not great with emotions, I am not great with touchy feeling and all that. When I get upset, I hold it in. I have for years. I have only recently, maybe in the past 3-5 years learned to address my feelings and talk it out to him. Sometimes this goes well, sometimes not so well. Right now I am having a moment, need some attention, love, something and instead he is acting like he doesn't even like  me let alone feeling any love for me.  This happens every once in a while with him, usually it causes a war and then it smooths back over. It doesn't mean it doesn't hurt me. I am hurt right now, I am really hurt and I am kind of getting tired of worrying about everything, doing everything and feeling like I have the weight of the world, or at least this entire household on my shoulders. I know that there are a lot of underlying things that are making me project my feelings; up all night due to a 3 year old who is having sleeping issues- of which I handle on my own, taking care of the kids all day, everyday, which includes prepping all meals, handling household chores, even making sure his sandwiches are made for his lunch. I feel like I am doing everything and sometimes a little recognition goes a long way, even maybe just a compliment here or there...instead I get nothing- it makes a girl question her life, her love and herself.

So right now, at this time, I am having a hard time. I am fighting tears, I am hyper anxiety ridden, I am angry and upset and hurt and in need of adult interaction! I do not regret my decisions to work at home but I haven't even had a chance to prove myself and this is already in my face. I am enduring a lot of change and I do not do well under such circumstances and it affects me very negatively.  My kids are my light. They are driving me crazy but I remember how thankful that I am and blessed that God gave them to me to look after- even at 3 a.m. when I am exhausted!

I am desperately trying to find my way and thought my partner was by my side. Now I am just not so sure.

Stepping out of your shell before its to late no matter how hard it may be. You just have to close your eyes and jump before its to late.
pinned image

I am staying positive. I have a new road ahead of me that will make my life easier, my kids life easier and has already made my Hubby's life a little easier. I just pray to God that he looks over us, over me and lets me find my way, sort my ill feelings and hold onto the positives that Life is offering me. I pray to God for my Hubby, that he finds what he is seeking and finds another outlet for his ill feelings and that he has not lost what he once had for me. That one is a tough pill to swallow.  Forever was what we have always said, but in times like these, it makes that journey that much more special.

Thank you for allowing me to vent. Sometimes just letting my feelings out can relieve my anxiety and help me to find the "way".  I will work on my office alone. I will make it that much more special because it will be my blood, sweat and tears that I pour into that room. I will not let my messy house embarrass me in front of friends and family and hope that all understand the situation. I love my Hubby and appreciate all that he does for us, for our family, the sacrifices that he makes for us. I try to have faith in him- but sometimes I waver. He doesn't care about people seeing our house a disaster, I do. I wish he cared about my feelings in times like these a little. It is what it is, I can't change it, I can't invent time- I can just move on.
